At a Press Conference on Wednesday 6th February, GlosVAIN launched a report commissioned from waste consultants Ynys Resources Ltd which shows serious flaws in the Javelin Park incinerator proposals. Richard Carter of Ynys Resources explained that they had undertaken an independent and objective review of the project, and concluded that Gloucestershire County Council were facing considerable risk if they were to continue with it. Instead they should revisit their options. The audience were shocked to hear that, because the proposed incinerator would be so inefficient, it would only qualify as disposal on a par with landfill at the bottom of the Waste Hierarchy, and that this was in contravention of EU and UK law.
