Cheltenham Also Asks Eric Pickles to Call In Incinerator Planning Application

On 26th Feb 2013, Cheltenham Borough Council followed Stroud District Council''s lead and wrote to Secretary of State, Eric Pickles, requesting that the incinerator planning application be "called in" and taken out of the hands of the County Council. Supporting Stroud's reasoning for requesting "Call In" in December 2012, Cheltenham cited in particular the reasons of

• Effects beyond the locality e.g. the overcapacity of incinerators in the region
• Substantial Regional Controversy
