Day 10 - 12th December 2013

Juliet Bailey returned to the witness box to start off day 10 with more than a little trepidation but perhaps to the surprise of some and the admiration of others she stood her ground like a seasoned campaigner. She knew her subject inside out and passed on the benefit of her local knowledge with great confidence leaving the usually unflappable Mr. Phillips QC floundering as to how to deal with her. Juliet finished her session with confidence and was overall ‘scarily’ good for someone who had no previous experience of Public Enquiries.

Next into the box came the GlosVAIN advocate Mr. Alan Watson and he spent some time going through the summary of his evidence which in places was very detailed and technical. When questioned by Richard Phillips QC for UBB about the ‘Fear of Health’ much time was spent on examining the minute detail.

The remainder of the day was spent with both Mr Phillips QC and Mr Watson scoring points like two seasoned boxers slugging it out in the ring with the Inspector Mr Cook living the role of referee ready to step in and warn either side if they pushed too far.
