Remember, Remember, say NO in November

Post date: Oct 20, 2012 4:32:12 PM

The deal is not done, planning permission has not yet been granted – it is all still to play for as far as the Javelin Park incinerator is concerned. As such, the month of November will be our busiest yet on the campaign!

There will be a packed schedule throughout November with plenty going on and lots of opportunity to learn more and to get involved in the campaign. We’d like to tell you all about it. Here goes…

November - “Incinerator Awareness Month”

November will be “Incineration Awareness Month” where we will be making a big push to really get the incinerator issue out there and understood in key areas of Gloucestershire.

During November we will be staging a large number of public events. Each one will consist of:

  • A public screening of our film, “The Towering Incinerator”
  • A presentation made by GlosVAIN
  • A Q&A session

The following events will take place:

The Towering Incinerator - a GlosVAIN production

* updated since previous email

Help needed!

We really need your help to publicise these events. You can do so by spreading the word or by helping to distribute leaflets. Also, if you haven’t yet been to one of our presentations, it would be great to see you there!

If you are able to help please contact Diana on 01452 810979 or Diana.Shirley@virgin.net

Gloucester Town Centre Events x 2

We will be running two crucial Gloucester town centre campaign events:

    • Saturday 27th October and
    • Saturday 3rd November.

These events are aimed at increasing public awareness and promoting the "Public Presentation and Debate" that is being held on 9th November at the Guildhall, at 7.30 p.m.

On both the 27th Oct. and 3rd Nov. we will be at the Cross in Gloucester, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., handing out information leaflets, promoting the event on 9th November, collecting signatures and hopefully getting some good media coverage too.

To help attract attention, each day has a different theme, Halloween for the 27th October and Bonfire night for 3rd November.

We hope that you will be able to come and help us. If you can only come for one Saturday, the 27th Oct. is the most important one. We are hoping to get maximum campaigner participation between 1.00 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Now for the exciting part, the themes. You can dress up, but don't worry, this is not compulsory, you can come just as you are if you prefer - but you might have some children who would find dressing up fun even if you don't. Check out the posters and themes below.

Please join us if you can!

Sat 27th October - Gloucester - The Cross 11am - 4pm

Come along and support "The Scary Big Incinerator" campaign event.

We will have a big scary model and want as many people as possible to come in a scary mask.

Some scary gas masks and white coveralls will be available for those who want to wear them. Let me know if you want to wear one!

The purpose is to make people aware that they should be scared of the financial, environment and potential health risks posed by the incinerator.

Sat 3rd November - Gloucester - The Cross 11am - 4pm

Come along and support the "Remember, Remember, say No in November" campaign event.

Remember, Remember - Democracy belongs to You and They are Not Listening!

Haresfield Kids Event

There will be a Kids Demo against the incinerator held on Haresfield Beacon on Sat, 3rd November at 11am organised by residents of Haresfield.

This demo is open to ALL children/ families, not just those who live or go to school in Haresfield, so please spread the word and encourage kids to bring their home made banners etc! The BBC is expected to be there to film the demo.

If you are able to attend with children then please contact hkai@ttofa.freeserve.co.uk. You can also help by downloading and distributing the poster for the demo. (updated 29/10)

Please meet at the National Trust car park at 10:45 am

We are playing on the theme of bonfire night for our events organised for November. As such, we’ll leave you with our reworking of the popular November 5th rhyme…

Remember remember say “No” in November

Particulate poisons and blot

I see no grounds why a waste of our pounds

Should ever be forgot...

Thanks for your continued support and keep fighting!
