Huge NO at the Demo..

Massive Stroud DEMO

Scrap the Contract

Hundreds turned out for our Scrap the Incinerator contract demo in Stroud yesterday (Sat 17 Jan). A sea of people filled the High Street as a protest march took place around Stroud. A clear message was sent to Gloucestershire County Council that this incinerator is not wanted and we will NOT STOP FIGHTING.

Hundreds of people also signed our NEW PETITION to SCRAP THE CONTRACT at the demo. We need 5,000 signatures to get the issue debated at County Council and, we hope, get the contract scrapped!

SIGN IT NOW ONLINE

  • We need everyone to sign, either online OR on the paper version.
  • We also please need everyone to help us gather as many signatures as possible: by collecting on paper or by sharing the online ePetition link.
  • Full details can be found here.

Since launching at midnight yesterday we've got 1,000 signatures in 24 hours already! But we need 5 times that many. Together we can do this, but we need your help!

A motion has been put forward at County Council to scrap the contract and an extraordinary meeting has been called for. There will a further protest in the near future when the issue is discussed at County Council. We will let you know once the date is known.

Finally, a massive thank you from GlosVAIN to everyone who braved the cold and turned out en masse yesterday. The support was amazing!

Watch our short video of the DEMO.

Also a really good video by the Green Party.

Lot of photos can also be found on our Facebook page as well as here.
