Kids Video Message to County Council

On Saturday 3rd November 2012, the local community and its children came together to stand united against the proposed Javelin Park incinerator. They marched to Haresfield Beacon to symbolise the collective strength of feeling against these plans. There was one simple, message to Gloucestershire County Councillors: Dare to Care for our Children's Rights.

Here is a film of the day, which has been sent to the County Council as a video message. Enjoy!

Funding the Campaign

The campaign is at a critical stage now. The County Council intend to decide upon the planning application on 17th January 2013. We are now in the process of engaging legal assistance to give us the best chance of stopping the incinerator through the planning process or any potential Call In inquiry or Judicial Review.

This is really urgent and will be expensive, more than we expect to be able to fund currently. We therefore have no choice but to request donations from you, our supporters. We are proposing that everyone donates a modest amount so that collectively a much needed fund can be established to help finance the next stages.

Please donate, say, £10, or as much as you are able, be it less or more. Any amount will be very helpful and so very gratefully received,

Don't Forget Your "Call In" Letters!

Thanks to all those that have already sent in a Call In Letter following our request earlier in November. As you know, we need as many people as possible to send in a request to the Secretary of State, Eric Pickles. We've been getting quite a few on the website, at public meetings and in the town centre.....but we need so many more!

There is no time to lose! If you haven't yet sent your letter, please, please do so now following the instructions on our website: http://www.glosvain.info/object

If everyone could also please share that link with friends to try and boost the numbers even further that would be fantastic!

  • ,or,
  • By bank transfer to Gloucestershire Vale Against Incineration: A/c: 41283111, Sort Code: 40-43-42, or,
  • By cheque made payable to "Gloucestershire Vale Against Incineration". Please send to: FAO Graham Smith, Quedgeley Parish Council, 9C The Old School House, School Lane, Quedgeley, Gloucester GL2 4PJ.

We hope that everyone can help contribute and together we can get the means to fight the next stages effectively and stop the incinerator.

Flooding at Javelin Park 22/11

Flooding at Javelin Park

We've all had some run ins with the flood waters over the last few days, with the prospect of more to come. Above is a photo taken at Javelin Park on Thursday. Clearly it is not coping well with the levels of rainfall, Let's not forget the incinerator building would have a roof covering over 2 acres - that's a lot of water run off. Is the site really fit for purpose? By way of light relief, a contributor produced a cartoon of this that you may enjoy here.
